Upcoming Events outside the UBA

Just a few years back several churches from the Union Baptist Association partnered together with Habitat for Humanity to help a local resident who needed help in having their home refurbished to make it safe and livable. This project turned out to be a blessing for the family as well as the churches who participated and the community at large.

One again we have an opportunity to partner together on another project. The family's name is the Helms. Leonard and Daniel Helms to be exact. Leonard is the Father and Daniel is his son. Mr. Helms senior has a myriad of health issues that keep him home-bound and unable to work. Daniel stays at home to assist his ailing father and his income is minimal. There is no running water in the house and no indoor plumbing. You can image the difficulties this produces for a home bound man in poor health.

We have been asked by Habitat for Humanity to partner with them by funding and building a new 3 bedroom, 2 bath room, Energy Star rated home for Leonard and Daniel Helms this fall. Construction is slated to start the
first week of October with a dedication of the new home on Saturday, December 15th, 2018. We would like to move Leonard and Daniel into a new home for Christmas but need your help to do this.

If your church is interested in partnering together with other churches of the Union Baptist Association to help the Helms family get into a better home and bless our community, please contact the UBA office or Dr. Eric Cook at the UBA or Mr. Joe Pennigar, 704-634-8903.

If you have further questions or would like to add your church to the partnering list, call:

Speaker:  Kevin Kennedy   (Founder of Generation Students Ministry)

This year our speaker is Kevin Kennedy, founder of Generation Students Ministry. Generation Students events are designed to help the local church as they seek to foster their student’s relationship with Christ.  Through fun games, focused worship, and relevant teaching the goals are always the same:

Grow the student’s relationships…

  • with Christ.

  • with their Church.

  • with their leaders.

We will need counselors from the individual churches to help with this Youth Event.

Wednesday, April 10, 2019

Wingate University, Wingate NC

Cuddy Arena

We would like to ask all of our churches to begin making plans now for our UBA Youth Feeding Event for 2019. On Wednesday, April 10, 2019 our students will join forces with Wingate University Students to package 50,000 meals that will feed the hungry here in Union County. We hope to have 300 Wingate University students and 300 or more UBA students to participate. Our offering at the UBA Fall Session will go toward this event and we are asking all of our churches to consider sending students to the event and making a contribution to reach our goal. Churches might consider making a line item in their budgets for next year or a love offering early in 2019 to go toward this goal. We would need to raise approximately $10,000 to add to the donation that will be given from the University. Our goal is to package 50,000 meals.  Please help us get this information to your church leaders.
